Former Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback and current analyst Tony Romo is playing in the Northeast Amateur Championship this week at Wannamoisett Country Club in East Providence. Romo, who has played in many celebrity golf tournaments is playing in the Northeast for the first time. When asked how he heard about the event, he said it was his good friend, Notah Bagay, a former PGA Tour player, current analyst and former winner of the Northeast, told him about the tournament last year, but he had a conflict. “This year when he told me the dates, I put it right on my calendar,” said Romo at today’s press conference.
The Northeast Amateur has most of the top amateurs in the country playing from June 19-22. The winner will be crowned on early Saturday afternoon, and it is a free event to attend.
