Your chance to see great golf during the same week as the Northeast Amateur is just 75 miles south in Cromwell, Ct. at TPC River Highlands. This beautiful course has hosted the PGA event for almost 20 years, and each year seems to be more exciting than the last.

World’s number one golfer, Scottie Scheffler, was the winner last year, and he will be trying to repeat as champion.

One of his top competitors this year is expected to be Keegan Bradley, the 2023 winner who calls this tournament his favorite and the one that he truly wants to win. Bradley is the captain of this year’s Ryder Cup and he is close to being part of America’s team.

In 2023 the PGA Tour made significant changes to over a dozen tournaments as they became Special Events with a purse of $20 million each, much higher than regular Tour events, and something that will guarantee that all the top players will put on their schedule. Travelers was one of the courses that was designated with this higher purse and remains one at this year’s event.

Travelers does a wonderful job providing activities for children during the tournament. It is a great way to interest children in the game of golf and it makes the event truly a family affair.

You do have to pay to watch the Travelers event, but it is well worth it and you will see the best players in the world and have a great time. The tournament always seems to go down to the final hole to decide a winner, and it will probably be that way again this year.

We are very fortunate to have both championship tournaments in our backyards, and it is truly a chance to see many of the best amateur and professional golfers in the world.
